Leticia Diaz

August 15, 1946 ~ August 22, 2018 (age 72)

On Wednesday, August 22, 2018 Leticia Diaz Lizaola peacefully passed away surrounded by her family. She was 72.

Leticia Diaz was born in La Esperanza Jalisco, Mexico. The youngest of six, she lived a beautiful childhood with her cousins. She studied to become a secretary at school and worked her way up to become a typing and short hand teacher. She married the love of her life and after a few years immigrated to Watsonville. Once she established herself here she worked in the strawberry fields and enrolled in an English class. On her second day of school she was offered a job as a dishwasher at Pacific Coast Manor where she worked her way up to become the dietitian head cook. She poured her heart into her job for 30 years, even after her shift was over, she would make time to check up on residents just to make sure they had liked her cooking. Outside of work she was known to have the biggest and kindest heart. She was an over the top hostess every time someone would visit her. She was fast at cooking and would make miracles in her kitchen, which as the heart of her home. She loved spending time with her family, her grandkids would love to visit her for her amazing dishes and variety of fruit she had for them specially the “pepinos” which were her love weapon. She loved spending quality time with her neighbors, while enjoying a cup of coffee and her own fresh baked goods. She loved to care for her garden, going to the flea market and going on car rides through the skirts of her hometown. During her illness she had lots of amazing doctors and nurses, they would all take care of her with love and kindness. Her childhood cousins poured their hearts to care and comfort her thru her final days. Her way of life was one of a kind, a truly amazing and strong woman that faced her illness fearless. We were honor to have her as a wife, mother, aunt, grandma and friend. You will be dearly missed. We love you and will keep you forever in our hearts mom.

Leticia is survived by her husband, Arturo Diaz Uribe and her children; Arturo, Adriana and Leticia. She is also survived by her siblings; Maria Luisa, Alicia, Beatriz, Jesus and Amparo and her 6 grandchildren.
