Alex Martinez

It is with great sadness that we inform you that Alex Martinez passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at the age of 31. He was a longtime resident of Watsonville.

He was born on May 26, 1987 to Richard Martinez and Jennie Gervasio-Martinez. Alex will always be remembered for his unique laugh and distinguished sense of humor. Alex had a big heart and loved to express his love by joking around with all of us. He enjoyed barbequing, fishing and hanging out with family. He had a love for oldies music, spending quiet times at the beach and sightseeing new places. It was his free spirit that made him who he was.

He is survived by his daughter Leah Martinez, his father Richard Martinez and siblings Geneve Martinez and Ricky Martinez. He leaves behind nieces, nephews various aunts’ uncles, cousins and many close friends considered family. He was preceded in death by his mother Jennie Gervasio-Martinez.

Visitation will be held on Sunday September 23, 2018 at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel from 4:30 PM until 9:00 PM. Service will be at 6:00 PM. There will be a Celebration of Life at Green Valley Christian Church on Monday at 9:30 AM. The burial will take place at Valley Public Cemetery following Mass. Alex will be laid to rest in his Niner Attire and we ask all “faithfuls” to wear their Niner Attire as well.
