Alfred Rodriguez

Alfred Rodriguez passed away peacefully on June 2, 2025 at the age of 81 years.

He was born in El Paso, Tx on October 20, 1943 to his parents Ramon Rodriguez and Josephine Portillo Rodriguez. His family came to the Coastal Area where they eventually owned a bakery in Castroville, CA and several restaurants in Watsonville, CA. He was employed at several businesses such as Marinovich Cold Storage and Lima Security before becoming a deputy Sheriff of Santa Cruz County where he later retired from.

He was a resident of Watsonville, CA and had a college education. He was a volunteer fireman for Salsipuedes fire Dept., a member of Sheriff Posse of Santa Cruz County and Santa Cruz County Peace officer association. He was an avid horseman, enjoyed music, singing, cooking and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his children Julie Kodama, Alfred Rodriguez Jr., Rudy Rodriguez, Eric Rodriguez and Nick Rodriguez; and siblings Ray Rodriguez, Gloria Banuelos, Mary Aul, Rosie Villa, Ernie Rodriguez, Robert Rodriguez, and Art Rodriguez; and his 5 grandchildren Marlise Jimenez, Jason Kodama, Jarrett Kodama, Ashley Rodriguez Tomasetti and Blake Rodriguez.

He was preceded in death by his siblings John Rodriguez, Manuel Rodriguez, Eloise Rodriguez and Connie Rodriguez.

A Memorial Service/Celebration of Life will be held on June 26, 2025 from noon to 3 p.m. at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel.
