Amalia Cabrales

Amalia “Molly” Cabrales departed for heaven from her home in Watsonville on December 7, 2018. She was born in La Soledad, Durango, Mexico on April 14, 1944. She migrated with her family to Watsonville when she was 10 years old and over the years worked at various strawberry fields and canneries, such as Green Giant and Del Mar. She is preceded in death by her parents, Roberto and Macaria Rivas and her siblings Magdaleno and Alejandro Rivas. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, José Angel Cabrales, Sr., sister, Euselia “Sally” Machuca and several nieces and nephews. She lived for her children, Maria Magdalena Cabrales, Melissa (David) Gallardo, José Angel Cabrales, Jr., and Marco (Brooke) Cabrales. Her love grew twelve-fold with her grandchildren Janelle, Luis Angel, Cristian, Andrea, Adrian, Annalisa, Arianna, Matthew, Andrew, Kendra, Samuel, and Dylan. She was blessed to spend her final years with her two great-grandchildren, Arian and Zaydan. Amalia was well known for her sense of humor, was always up for a good conversation and an attentive listener to those who needed counsel. She was known for having coffee with her friends after a water aerobics class at Spa Fitness. She was a fanatic of novelas and game shows like Price is Right (Bob Barker days), Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy. Molly always looked forward to seeing her dear friends and family at Holy Eucharist Church every Sunday. She always opened her home and heart, and anyone who had the fortune of having one of her meals will never forget it. Visitation services will be held on Monday, December 17, 2018 from 5-9 PM with a Rosary at 7PM at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel. Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Holy Eucharist Church at 11 AM with burial to follow Valley Public Cemetery.
