Aurelio Castillo Ortiz

Aurelio Castillo Ortiz nació el sábado 28 de marzo de 1942 y falleció el domingo 18 de enero de 2026 en el Hospital Comunitario de Watsonville a la edad de 83 años. Nativo de Gómez Farias, Michoacán, México, Aurelio vivió en Watsonville por 55 años. Aurelio trabajo en el campo de agricultura por más de 55 años, y aun después de jubilarse siguió amando la agricultura y la naturaleza. Aurelio era un gran hombre de familia muy dedicado y entregado. Continuamente trabajo para proveer para su familia y asegurar su futuro. Siempre amo a su familia, ya que su familia era uno de sus grandes orgullos y alegrías. Una de las alegrías tan grandes de Aurelio fueron sus nietos y bisnietos. En particular, su alegría fue mirar a sus nietos crecer y enseñarles la naturaleza de la vida. Él siempre fue la alegría, la enseñanza, y el cariño para todos sus nietos y bisnietos, y de esa manera se ganó el amor de todos ellos. Otra de sus alegrías fue la música. Siempre traía su radio escuchando música como un pasatiempo alegre para él y para todos. Un logro muy deseado para Aurelio fue convertirse en ciudadano estadounidense, lo cual logro el 25 de septiembre de 2020. Este logro fue un gran orgullo para él.

Le fallecieron antes: Hijo Rogelio Castillo Rocha; nietos Jesús y Ángel; hermana Berta Castillo Ortiz; y padres Uriel Castillo y Marina Ortiz. Le sobreviven su esposa Flora Rocha Castillo; hijos/as (6): Aurelio, Leticia, Rafael, Lupe, David, y Juan Castillo Rocha; Nietos (20): Alvaro, Alma, Mayra, Aurelio, Luis, Marissa, Rafael, Luz María, Daisy, Alejandro, Jessica, Julián, Jocelyn, David, Julyssa, Alexis, Brian, Iván J., Juan, y Santiago; Bisnietos (11): Marlene, Camila, Mateo, Andy, Iván I., Isabella, Melissa, Alejandro, Matthew, Lucy, y Lexi; y hermanos/as (7): Daniel, Erlindo, Consuelo, Ana María, Josefina, Elena, y Lilia Castillo Ortiz.

La velación y rosario serán el jueves, febrero 5 de 2026 de 5:00pm-9:00pm en el Ave María Memorial Chapel. El rosario comenzara a las 7:00pm. Tiempo privado para la familia inmediata será de 3:00pm-5:00pm. La misa y sepultura serán el viernes, febrero 6 de 2026 a las 10:00am en Nuestra Señora María Auxiliadora. El entierro será después de la misa en el Valley Public Cemetery.

Aurelio Castillo Ortiz was born on Saturday, March 28, 1942, and passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at Watsonville Community Hospital at the age of 83. A native of Gómez Farías, Michoacán, Mexico, Aurelio lived in Watsonville for 55 years. Aurelio worked in agriculture for more than 55 years, and even after retiring he continued to love farming and nature. Aurelio was a great family man, deeply devoted and committed. He continuously worked to provide for his family and secure their future. He always loved his family, since they were one of his greatest sources of pride and joy. One of Aurelio’s greatest joys was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In particular, his joy was watching his grandchildren grow up and teaching them about the nature of life. He was always the joy, the teacher, and the affection for all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and in that way, he earned their love. Another of his joys was music. He always carried his radio around, listening to music as a joyful pastime for himself and for everyone. A long-desired achievement for Aurelio was becoming a U.S. citizen, which he accomplished on September 25, 2020. This achievement was a great source of pride for him.

He was preceded in death by: Son Rogelio Castillo Rocha; grandsons Jesús and Ángel; sister Berta Castillo Ortiz; and parents Uriel Castillo and Marina Ortiz. He is survived by his wife, Flora Rocha Castillo; his six children: Aurelio, Leticia, Rafael, Lupe, David, and Juan Castillo Rocha; his 20 grandchildren: Alvaro, Alma, Mayra, Aurelio, Luis, Marissa, Rafael, Luz María, Daisy, Alejandro, Jessica, Julián, Jocelyn, David, Julyssa, Alexis, Brian, Iván J., Juan, and Santiago; his 11 great-grandchildren: Marlene, Camila, Mateo, Andy, Iván I., Isabella, Melissa, Alejandro, Matthew, Lucy, and Lexi; and his seven siblings: Daniel, Erlindo, Consuelo, Ana María, Josefina, Elena, and Lilia Castillo Ortiz.

The viewing and rosary will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Ave María Memorial Chapel. The rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m. Private time for the immediate family will be from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The funeral Mass and burial will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady Mary Help of Christians Church. The burial will take place after the Mass at Valley Public Cemetery.
