Barbara Ann Hildebrand

Barbara Ann Hildebrand, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 23, 2026 at the age of 85 at her home in Watsonville, California.

Born on July 27, 1940 in Salinas, California, Barbara was the third of four children. She graduated from Salinas High School and married James T. Hildebrand shortly after. Together they had three sons, James Bryan, who tragically passed away at age 29, Kelvin Doyle Hildebrand, and Theron Wayne Hildebrand.

Barbara studied nursing at Cabrillo College and worked as a CNA and ward clerk for Watsonville Community Hospital for over 35 years until her retirement. She was an amazing cook, enjoyed gardening, listening to music, and watching repeated episodes of Blue Bloods and Sex and the City, in which she could recite every word of every episode. Barbara loved animals and they loved her back; she was the best mom to many dogs over the years. Above all, she cherished visits from her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her two sons, Kelvin & Theron Hildebrand; her two daughters-in-law, Liz & Diane Hildebrand; and her eldest sister, Reba Sue Butts; seven grandchildren, Jane, Macie, Serena, Hanna, Christina, Joe, and Jonathan Hildebrand; and two great-grandchildren, Jay and Dottie Wilbur.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Macie Roberts; her sister, Linda Avery; her brother, Wayne Wilkins; and her beloved son, Jimmy Hildebrand. While we will forever miss Barbara, we will always cherish the memories, holidays, conversations, and laughter we shared with her.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel.
