On the morning of Saturday, February 3, 2024 Christian Steinbruck passed away surrounded by his family. He was 82. Christian was born in Redwood City, CA on October 15, 1941 to Rudy and Mary “Fifi" Steinbruck. He is survived by his brother Keith Steinbruck of Eugene, OR, and was preceded in death by his brother Rudolph Steinbruck and sister Karen Grandquist. Christian is also survived by his two children Kimberley (Jim) McDonnell, of Glen Ellyn, IL, Jennifer (Mike) Rabe of San Jose, CA and his four grandchildren: Anna and Ford McDonnell, and Maybelle and Emma Rabe.
He spent his childhood in the Redwood City area and graduated from Sequoia High School. As an adult he resided in Portola Valley, Woodside, and Aptos, CA. Christian worked as a draftsman and senior designer for several architectural and engineering firms during his long career, the most recent firm being CJW Architecture in Portola Valley. He was never happier than when he was sitting at his drafting table or swinging a golf club. He was a man of strong faith who loved sports, the beach, music, and of course his family. He was a loving brother, father, uncle, and grandfather. “Grandpoppy” will be dearly missed by all his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 17th at All Saints Cristo Rey Episcopal Church, 437 Rogers Ave. Watsonville, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or All Saints Cristo Rey Episcopal Church.
