Demetrio "Joe" Martinez

Demetrio “Joe” Martinez of Watsonville, CA. passed away peacefully on September 7, 2025. He was 85.

Demetrio was born on February 11, 1940, to Demetrio Martinez and Guadalupe Esquivel Martinez.

Demetrio attended Pajaro Grammer School and Watsonville High School. He served in the United States Army and the Army Reserves. He was involved with local organizations such as the American Legion VFW, Elks and Sons of Italy. He was a member of the UFCW Labor Union and worked as a meat cutter/butcher at Nob Hill for many years. Demetrio was a resident of Watsonville.

He is survived by his siblings, Rachel Gonzales, Helen Reeves, Cathy Martinez, Gloria Wong, Henry Martinez, Vincent Martinez.

He is preceded in death by his son, Anthony Martinez, his siblings, Delfino Rico, Nadine Lacy, Irene Riley, Mike Martinez and John Martinez.

A visitation service will be held on Monday, September 29, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel located at 609 Main St. in Watsonville CA. The Burial will take place on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the California Central Coast Veterans Cemetery located at 2900 Parker Flats Rd. in Seaside CA.
