Dora Tavera

Mrs. Dora Alicia "Dorita" Tavera died peacefully in her home on March 14th in Watsonville, California at the age of 68.

Dora is survived by her children, Evelyn (Tavera) Meyers , Daniel Joel Tavera , Marisol Arnold , Dina Rebecca "Becky" Tavera Clark ; Grandchildren, Grant Steven Meyers, Jordan MacKenzie Jeremiah Juan Tavera, Liana Gonzales, Abigail Dora Tavera, Elijah Tavera and her unborn granddaughter Diamante Dora Clark due August 2015. Siblings, Araceli Alvagrenga, Alejandro Accevedo, Gladis Jovanavic, Daisy Juarez and Juan Accevedo. She is preceded in death by her husband Juan Mares Tavera.

Dora Alicia Tavera was born on October 8th 1946 in San Salvador, El Salvador to Alejandro Castellon Ramirez and Antonia Accevedo. She graduated from high school and traveled to the United States to continue her education and pursue a career in the nursing field. She married Juan Mares Tavera in 1976. After moving to Watsonville, California in 1974 she began working for Watsonville Nursing Center as a Certified Nurse Assistant. Over nine years, the couple welcomed four children into their home and Dora set about teaching them the knowledge she had acquired through her study of the bible with Jehovah's Witnesses. Her children remember her as a kind, gentle, loving, strong mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals and draw close to Jehovah.

Dora was a generous, witty, dedicated individual who loved music and who was passionate about history and justice. She was an active and dedicated member of the Buena Vista Congregation of Jehovah's Witness and served Jehovah faithfully until her last days. We will never forget her gregarious smile, wonderful sense of humor and humble spirit. She made friends everywhere she went and was loved by many.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for March 21st at 4:00pm at the Kingdom Hall located at: 125 Sill Road Watsonville Ca 95076. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Dora's life.
