Edward Bowles

Edward Bowles passed away peacefully in Salinas on May 1, 2026 at the age of 89, with his daughters holding his hands.

Edward was born on June 8, 1936, in Eagle Pass, Texas. His parents were Griff Bowles Sr. and Consuelo Bowles.

Edward graduated from Watsonville High School in 1955 and played football for 3 years. He made sccal in football and sccal in Track. He broke records in track and still holds a few records that have not been broken.

After graduating from high school, Edward married the love of his life Helen Montgomery in September of 1955. They were married 52 years. They had three children: Luann Serpa of Watsonville, Neil Bowles of Watsonville, and Brenda Bower of Salinas.

He was preceded in death by his wife Helen Bowles who passed in 2007, his son Neil who passed in 2024, parents Griff Bowles Sr. and Consuelo Bowles, and siblings Griff Bowles Jr. and Thelma Hubbel.

Edward is survived by his daughters Luann Serpa (Ron), Brenda Bower (Blaine), and honorary daughter LeeAnne Christensen, and his brother LeeRoy Bowles (Marlene) and sister Jeanette Basquez. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Helen Marie Bowles, Nicolette Serpa, Trevor Bowles, Aaron Bowles and Brandon Bower, and his great-grandchildren Arman Jumambayev, Maddox Bowles, and many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The family would like to thank Edward’s caregiver Nathaniel Ceballos for his outstanding love and care for Our Father. He went above and beyond for Edward and was loved like a grandson.

A service will be held May 28th at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Eucharist Church located at 527 Corralitos Rd, Watsonville, California. A burial will follow at Pajaro Valley Memorial Park with a reception at Jalisco’s Restaurant.
