Eleanor Diaz

January 30, 1954 — December 14, 2018

Eleanor Valdiez Diaz, born January 30, 1954, passed in her sleep on December 14, 2018. Eleanor was 64 years old. Eleanor was preceded in death by her father Jose Diaz and brother Barney Diaz both of Watsonville, California. She is survived by her mother Delia Diaz and her son Aaron Zapata of Watsonville and son Ben Zapata and daughter in law Clare and grandson Xavier of Hayward, California. She is also survived by her brother Joe Diaz and sister in law Yolanda Diaz of Watsonville, her brothers Pat Diaz and Rick Diaz of Watsonville. She also leaves behind endless cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and coworkers.

The only girl of five children, Eleanor grew up a tom boy who loved to be outdoors playing sports. As she got older she was known to many as a loyal friend, great cook, and amazing caregiver. Eleanor had a generous heart and she always wanted to care for others by feeding, clothing, praying, or listening. Eleanor’s desire to care and comfort will be missed.

Eleanor’s love for life was contagious and her commitment to God was admirable. Many weekends Eleanor spent with her church family in fellowship, strengthening her relationship with the Lord, and in servitude.

There were many things in Eleanor’s life that brought her joy, like teaching her nephews and nieces how to make her signature dishes of fried rice or pineapple upside down cake, like singing a worship song, or befriending a stranger in the store, but nothing made her happier than when she was with her sons and grandson. Anyone who knew Eleanor knew she loved her boys. Eleanor was the most selfless, most giving mother, and the silliest and sweetest G- Ma ever.

Please join us to remember an incredible woman who we will never forget.

A service will be held on December 20, 2018 at 6:00 at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel in Watsonville, Ca. Public Viewing begins at 5:00 PM.
