On September 21, Elias “Eli” Mendoza passed away in San Jose, California. He was 74.
Mr. Mendoza was born on February 17, 1944 in Chihuahua, Mexico to his proud parents Pedro and Vicenta Mendoza. He was a devoted family man that loved spending time with them. He was married to his wife Roxy for 53 years. He was a man of God dedicated to his faith and the church. He touched many lives throughout the years. He successfully ran Central Roofing for 50 years. He was a dedicated little league coach, church member and impactful member of the racing community. He was not only an avid fan of racing but also owned a race car. He was a kind-hearted man who was always willing to help anyone. He would give you the shirt off his back and his last dollar if you needed it. Eli was a resident of Watsonville.
He is survived by his wife, Andrea “Roxy” Mendoza; his children Evangeline Lewis, Margaret Mendoza, Vicenta Mendoza and Eli Mendoza Jr.; his siblings, Anna Maria “Mary” Martinez, Hilda Stevens, Abraham Mendoza (Helga), Ruben Mendoza, Joe Mendoza (Joyce) and Peter Mendoza Jr. (Cynthia); his grandchildren, Cheyenne “Bubbles” Lewis, Bryan “Mowgli” Mendoza, Gracie “Dirtball” Lewis, Kristofer “Ponchito” Mendoza, Zachariah “The Rocket” Lewis and Israel “My Shadow” Soito-Mendoza; and great grandchildren, Sophia, Savannah and Scarlet Obledo; also Richard and Maria Camperud, Andrew, Kyle “The Wild Child” (Beatrice), Jacob, Jared, Kyle Jr., and Aiden Camperud; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and newphews.
A Visitation Service will be held on Thursday, September 27, at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel, located at 609 Main St. in Watsonville from 3:00-5:00 PM for the family and 5:00-9:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM for the public.
