Helen Terrell

October 20, 1918 — April 24, 2015

Our mother, Helen, left us peacefully after a brief battle with cancer to go to her reward on April 24.
She was the last of her generation, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to all. Her admirable life taught us all what true love, faith and strength can do as she gracefully lived her life.
She was born September 20, 1918 in Portland Oregon.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Rev. Olan Terrell, all her brothers and sisters, one great grandson, one son-in-law and many of her friends.
She leaves behind her loving children Richard (Claudia) Lund BC, Barbara (Scott) Oakland, Joan Dunsmuir, Pamela Watsonville, Renee (Ron) Ecuador, Douglas (Muriel) Mt. Shasta, six grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and "adopted" daughter Laina (Leonard).
Our sincerest thanks to Dr. Weber, Watsonville Hospital, Watsonville Nursing Center and Hospice of Santa Cruz County for their care during her final journey.
She and Olan spent fifty years in the Methodist church, in which they served ten parishes. Her love of books and learning made her work in the library system and historical society one of her great pleasures. Her volunteer work with the YWCA Thrift Store, her numerous women's groups including her lifetime association with PEO brought her great joy. She will live on in the memories of all who loved her and she was humbled by the constant visits, cards and calls by all who loved her during her final days. She will truly be a shining star in the heavens.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Watsonville First United Methodist Church, 229 Stanford Street, 95076, would be most appreciated. The memorial service will be held Saturday, May 2, 2015 at the Watsonville First United Methodist Church, Rev. Robin Mathews Johnson officiating at 3:00 PM.
