James Lawerence

June 11, 1927 — February 8, 2015

James R Lawrence Sr. (Bob) passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2015 in his Watsonville home with family at his side. He was 87 years old.

He was born June 11, 1927 in Laurel, Montana. As a young child his family traveled to California and set up roots in Watsonville where he attended schools in the Pajaro Valley and graduated from Watsonville High School in 1945. At the age of 17 he volunteered for the Marine Corps during World War II, he was stationed in San Diego and was sent to China. After discharge from the Marines he spent time in Guam building a new military hospital. When he returned to Watsonville, he decided to pursue a career in plastering where he worked for over 40 years in the San Jose area. In 1955 he married Juanita Sykes and they were married for 59 wonderful years. They had 3 children who they loved to take camping, fishing and water skiing. They also enjoyed traveling around the United States on their motorcycle. He retired in 1989 and enjoyed reading, watching National Geographic's and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the I.O.O.F- Watsonville for over 60 years.

He is survived by his wife, Juanita; daughter, Sandra Martin- Watsonville; sons, James R Lawrence Jr.- Minnesota and Roger Lawrence- Watsonville; grandchildren, Nicholas Martin- Watsonville, Andrea Oliveira (David)- San Juan Bautista, Kimberly Ramirez (Pio)-Watsonville, Jason Lawrence (Carie)- Idaho, Tambra Davis (Jason)- Modesto, Jeffrey Lawrence- Minnesota and 4 great grandchildren. He also has a sister, Mary McGraw- Washington; brothers, John Lawrence (Doris)- Oregon and David Lawrence- Philippines; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Bertha Lawrence Sr. and sister, Florence Camp.

The family would like to thank Hospice and his private care giver for all of the wonderful care that he was given over the last 1 A½ years. Grave side services will be held on February 17, 2015, at the Pajaro Valley Memorial Park in Watsonville @ 11:00 am.
