Jose "Don Joe" Salazar

On August 15, 2023, Jose “Don Joe” Salazar passed away surrounded by family in Santa Cruz, California. He was 92.

Jose was born on April 22, 1931, in Durango Mexico, to his parents Miguel Salazar and Nicolasa Mejia.

Jose was a dedicated family man. He loved watching boxing. He enjoyed reading books and working in the garden, harvesting his crops. He was a resident of Royal Oaks.

Jose is survived by his wife, Elodia Salazar, his children, Pattie (Ronnie Granada) Salazar Granada, Rosie (Jose Perez) Salazar and Claudia V. Salazar, his siblings, Alejo Salazar, Cuco Salazar, Manuel Salazar and Marcela, and his granddaughter Aisha Salazar-Perez.

A Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel. Mass will be held the following day August 25, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Valley Catholic Church with a closing ceremony to follow at Pajaro Valley Memorial Park located at 127 Hecker Pass Rd in Watsonville.
