It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Lauren Graciela Chames, who left us unexpectedly at the age of 42. Born on April 8, 1983, in Watsonville, California, Lauren was a proud resident of Castroville and a woman whose warmth and strength touched all who knew her.

Lauren attended Moreland Notre Dame Elementary, Watsonville High School and earned her culinary degree from Cabrillo College. She went on to build a successful career and was serving as a General Manager at Oren’s Hummus in Mountain View.

Above all, Lauren was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her loving husband, Christopher “Chris” Chames; her children, Elaine Jaquez, Riley Jaquez, and Graciela Chames; and her cherished granddaughter, Kailani. She is also survived by her parents, Paul LeBarre and Deanna Valdivia; her siblings, Joshua LeBarre and Emily Gonzalez; her grandfather, Nazario Valdivia; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Lauren enjoyed spending time with her family, attending baseball games, and watching football and wrestling. Her love, laughter, and strong spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Visitation will be held on March 23 from 5:00–9:00 PM with a rosary at 7:00 PM at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on March 24 at Our Lady Help of Christians Church at 10:00 AM.
