Luis P. Duran

July 19, 1939 — June 23, 2022

Salt Lake City

Luis P Duran left this life a fighter, just as he lived it. Born July 19, 1939 to Jose and Dorita Duran in Pagosa springs CO. He grew up in East Carbon Utah where his dad worked in the coal mines. He graduated from East carbon high in 1957. Luis served in the US Navy on the USS Cavalier from 1958-62. Luis later came to Salt Lake City and met his love Bridget Rodriguez. Together they had two sons; Mark (Lynette) and Anthony (Lisa).

Louie’s greatest joy was his grandchildren Meghan, Markus, Oliver, Mariah and Auri. He loved taking them on bike rides, to 7-11 to get slurpees, he was always up to carpool them wherever they wanted to go. He taught them how to fish, how to fix things, the value of hard work and that it was important to have a strong opinion. He was in the stands at all of their games- he was so proud of them. He taught them of his love for Jesus, and for his family. Never leaving with out giving them a kiss on the cheek.

Luis leaves behind his sons, grandchildren and their families, his step children and his sisters.

He joined Bridget, his parents, sisters; Bertha, Dora and Mary and step children; Andy and Eddie and his great granddaughters Khara and Tuesday in heaven June 23, 2022.

Join us to honor him on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 from 5:30- 7pm at St Anne’s. Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at 12:00 at St. Anne’s with burial to follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
