Marilyn Sauer

February 22, 1924 — December 1, 2013

Marilyn L. Sauer passed away on December 1, 2013 at her home in Watsonville. She was 89 years old. Marilyn was born on February 22, 1924 in Alice, North Dakota, the youngest child born to her parents Paul and Emma Dehn.
She came to California and specifically Watsonville in the early 1950's where she and her beloved husband, Donald A. Sauer raised their family. They were married for 58 years.
In her earlier years Marilyn worked for the Santa Cruz County Teachers Federal Credit Union, now known as Bay Federal Credit Union that our father founded.
Marilyn was a devoted wife and a loving mother. She spent her life dedicated to her family and she was known for her wisdom and was admired for her "sweet personality", kindness and her devotion to her Catholic religion and the Rosary.
She is survived by her four children, Julie (Jon) Teeling, Connie Sauer, Mary K. (Ken) Chappell and Mark (Margaret) Sauer. She is also survived by her Sister Grace Dehn whom she happily lived with at Valley Heights up until her passing.
She is survived by 10 grandchildren: Heidi (Bryan) Saxen, Aaron (Lisa) Teeling, Shannon (Zach) Koontz, Max Hoularis, Alison (Kevin) Freitas, Nicholas (Lori) Chappell, Kristen (Steve La Russa) Chappell, Eric Sauer, Jenna (Ryan) Swallow and Katy Sauer.
She had 10 great grandchildren, Connor and Cole Saxen, Regan and Jonathan Teeling, Khloe Koontz, Macy and Colby Freitas, Ella and Madalynn Swallow, Luke and Gianni Sauer and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald and her grandson, Scott, her sisters, Lavine and Pauline Peterson and her brother Harvey Dehn.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church at 2401 East Lake Avenue, Watsonville. A private family burial will follow the Mass at Valley Public Cemetery, 2445 East Lake Ave., Watsonville. A Celebration of her Life will take place at 12 p.m. at Ave Maria's at 609 Main St., Watsonville.
The family prefers donations be made to Salesian Sisters School, 605 Enos Lane, Corralitos, Ca. 95076 or Heartland Hospice, 824 Bay Ave, Capitola, CA 95010.
