Mark Martinez

October 17, 1957 — February 23, 2019

Mark Montez Martinez passed away unexpectedly on February 23, 2019 in Cameron Park. He was 61.

He is survived by his wife, Raquel Martinez; his sons Benjamin Earl (Kristy) Martinez and David Wesley Martinez; his mother, Martha Martinez; his siblings, Steven (Alicia) Martinez, Richard (Sylvia) Martinez, Frank Gonzalez, Christopher Williams, Elizabeth (Miguel) Navarro and Anna (Richard) Rodriguez; his grandchildren Dallas Jaxon Martinez and Peyton Ryan Martinez; his stepchildren; Alicia Danielle Lopez, Sergio David Lopez and Noah Lopez; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Nino Martinez; his brother Daniel Martinez and his sisters Nina Garcia and Peggy Tonche.

Mark was a hardworking family man that enjoyed life. He was a boy scout in the Civil Air Patrol as a youngster. He played varsity football at Aptos High School. He was also a member of the chess club and school bowling team. When he was 10 years old, he had a paper route delivering for the Register Pajaronian. He was the first member of his family to earn a bachelor’s degree from Westmont College in Southern California. He loved playing the guitar, reading his bible, singing karaoke and in the choir. He was an avid fan of baseball and football watching as many SF giants and Warriors games as often as possible. Mark loved spending time with his family; he often enjoyed playing card and board games with his siblings. Mark was a native of Watsonville.

Our dad had an incredible love for life and his family, along with a generous heart for anyone he encountered. But above all, his love for God and testimony about what Jesus had done in his life was what filled him with a passion for living for God each day.

WE LOVE YOU “Pops”
