Mary Day

October 2, 1926 — January 23, 2015

Mary Ann was born on October 2, 1926 to Anna and Martin Spikula in Watsonville, California.
Vincent was her beloved brother who died in World War II in the battle of the Bulge. On January 23, 2015, Mary Ann Day passed away at her home in Watsonville, California after fighting a short battle with a rare jawbone cancer. She was eighty eight years old. Mary graduated from Watsonville High School, and left to pursue a modeling and design career in San Francisco. Returning to Watsonville, Mary worked for Marty Franich Ford as an accountant doing bookkeeping.
She married Harwood Allen Day, and they had a daughter named Lori Ann. Woody and Mary Ann were together for 58 years. Mary Ann loved music, art, and dancing. She loved to listen to her daughter sing, and played a great part in influencing her music. She loved flowers, nature, and most of all beauty. We will remember her gentle, quiet soul.
Mary Ann leaves her daughter Lori Ann Day, niece Lynne Kirkland and her partner Forrest Sladwick, her nephew Layne Heim and his wife Karen, and great nephews Colin and Ryan Heim, her brother in law Jim Heim, and her predeceased sister Ann Heim.

A heartfelt thanks goes to Ruth Marroquin, and Emma Marroquin, her selfless caretakers, and Hospice of Santa Cruz.
