Mary Luz "Toncha" Vasquez

Mary Luz “Toncha” Vasquez passed away peacefully on March 29, 2026, at the age of 95.

She was born on February 17, 1931, to her parents Juanita and Eusebio Martin. She married the love of her life, Rudy Vasquez and was a long-time resident of Moss Landing. She was a sharecropper and worked in the canneries for over 30 years. When she retired, she embraced her role as grandma and great-grandma taking the time to care for them all. She also took on crocheting and made her own tradition of creating each grand/great-grandchild their own baby sweaters and blankets until she couldn’t anymore.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Rudy and siblings Aurelio Martin, Elisa Martin, Julian Martin, Alfredo Martin, Jose Martin and Joe Martin.

She is survived by her children Linda (Jose) Lopez, Sylvia (Frank) Madrigal, Mark (Colleen) Vasquez, her brother Robert Martin, her 11 grandchildren Allison, Ben, Alex, Ron, Christina, Nicole, Shawn, Jackie, Taylor, Michael, Jenny; her 17 great-grandchildren Leah, Brianna, Mars, Analise, Scarlett, Kirra, Silas, Oliver, James, Jaxson, Everly, Layla, Rowdy, Clyde, Adam, Aaron, and Theodore.

Visitation will be held on April 7, 2026, from 5-9 PM at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel with Rosary at 6 PM. Mass will be held on April 8, 2026, at 10 AM at St. Patrick’s Catholic Parish. Burial to follow at Castroville Moss Landing Cemetery.
