Nick Alderete

Nick Alderete, beloved father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on May 11, 2026, at the age of 64.

Born in Santa Cruz, CA, on February 17, 1962, to his mother, Sally Alderete, Nick spent his early years growing up in Watsonville before later moving to Turlock, Modesto, Gilroy, and Los Banos, before eventually settling back home in Watsonville.

Nick is survived by his daughters, Roxanne Duran and Vanessa Escobar, and his son, Andrew Duran, as well as his mother, Sally. He also leaves behind his sisters, Theresa and Anna Alderete, and Lisa Escamilla; his brother-in-law, Joey Escamilla; his stepfather, Sal Alderete; and his partner, Christine Retana. He will also be missed by his 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, who loved their Papa dearly.

Nick was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Gutierrez, as well as two children, Nick Jr. Alderete and his daughter, Melissa Alderete.

Nick was a lifelong, diehard Raiders fan. He will be remembered for his strong spirit, sense of humor, and the deep love he had for his family. Nick will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.

A celebration of life will be held on June 12, 2026, at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel, 609 Main St., Watsonville, CA 95076, at 12:00 p.m.

A memorial reception will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m. at Corralitos Grange Hall, Watsonville, CA 95076.
