On May 13, 2024, Rachel Nevarez passed away in Watsonville CA. She was 80.

 Rachel was born on July 25, 1943, to her parents Antonia and Victor Rodriguez.

Rachel was an extraordinary woman who overcame many obstacles to become a successful business woman. Born into a migrant family that traveled yearly from Texas to Washington, following crop work from state to state, Rachel started her working career while still being a child. The family ultimately settled in the Moss Landing area and moving to Watsonville in 1964. Being the older of two children, she was very protective of her little sister, even chasing her around the playground with a big bottle of cough syrup to make sure she took her medicine. 

After high school graduation, she worked for the Coalition and Silliman Bookkeeping Services. It was there she met her friend and comadre, Guillermina Tovar with whom she opened a tax and bookkeeping service. Tovar & Nevarez Bookkeeping business which operated for over 35 years. 

Her children, grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren were her joy. She and her husband traveled to Europe twice and cruised the Mexican Riviera several times as well as the Panama Canal. They enjoyed trips to Chukchansi and watching her novelas. 

Rachel was a proud, private woman who will be tremendously missed. She was a loving daughter, sister, friend and above all a Mother.
 Rachel is survived by her husband, Jesus, her children, Mary (Alex), Jesse (Jenny), Lorena (Andrew), and Erika (Javier), her sister Gloria (Vince) Garcia, and her grandchildren, Alex, Dominique, Angelique, Antoniette, Aaron, Julian, Aubrey, Noah and Alina.

A Viewing and Rosary will be held on Monday, May 27, 2024, from 5:00-9:00 PM at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel located at 609 Main St. Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady Help of Christians located at 2401 East Lake Ave with the burial to follow at Valley Public Cemetery located at 2445 East Lake Ave.
