Ramiro Tovar "Camilo"

March 20, 1938 — April 22, 2026

Ramiro Tovar “Camilo” passed away peacefully at home in Watsonville, California on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at the age of 88.

He was born in Texas on March 20, 1938 to parents Manuel and Rafaela Espinoza.

Ramiro’s dedication to his family knew no bounds, and when it came time for him to leave his education to pursue a job, he didn’t hesitate. Although the work was hard, working alongside his big brother, Roy Tovar, made it much easier.

Together, these two brothers tackled many laborious jobs. From picking cotton to gathering strawberries. They also sold potted plants together during farmers markets across the Bay Area. Through these farmers’ markets, he made many good friends. Everyone he spoke to was embraced with the warmth of his person. Ramiro had a passion for classic cars. His afternoons were spent waxing the paint by hand, down to the trim. His routine car cleaning wasn’t complete without some Elvis Presley playing in the background.

Some of Ramiro’s favorite moments were the ones spent on his motorcycle. He constantly expressed that the feeling he got from riding his motorcycle down Mountain Madonna was like none other. No words could encapsulate just how amazing the feeling was for Ramiro. Just as no words can encapsulate the amazing human being that Ramiro Tovar was and always will be.

Ramiro is preceded in death by his parents and children Bobby Tovar and Gilbert Tovar. He is survived by his devoted wife Angelina Tovar, his children Carlos, Silvia, Gary, Stefanie, and Raul Ramiro. He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Cecilia, Carlos Jr. Deidra, Isabel, Frank, Katrina, Korina, Bobby Jr, Vanessa, Jerika, Delilah, and Dayla, as well as many other beloved extended family and friends.

A viewing will be held for Ramiro on Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel on Main St. in Watsonville, California. A Mass will follow the next morning of Friday, May 15, 2026, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Parish at 10 a.m.
