Ramon Correa Lopez

Ramon Correa Lopez nació en 1960 en Matamoros Tamaulipas, Mèxico. Le sobreviven sus hermanas: Lupe, Irma, Amanda, y Concepcion. En Chicago sus hermanos: Homero, Raymon, Leticia, Sergio y Ana.

En 1964 la familia se mudo a la cuidad de México, donde Ramon vivió parte de su niñez y adolescencia. En 1984, ingreso a la academia de policía y trabajó como investigador del departmento de análisis e información del estado de México. Unos años más tarde, con el apoyo de su hermana Lupe Lopez emigró a los Estados Unidos y llego a Watsonville.

En 1989 contrajo matrimonio con Bertha Caravantes. Aunque no tuvieron hijos, Ramon tuvo 13 sobrinos que gozaron la oportunidad de convivir con él en diferentes etapas de su vida. Ramon fué un tío muy juguetón y cariñoso. Sus sobrinos lo recuerdan con amor: Armando, Cecilia, Laura, Marbelli, Gabriela, Itzel, Claudia, Eduardo, Fernanda, Andres, Jonathan, Giovanni y Josimar.

La música siempre fué su pasión. Desde muy joven aprendió a tocar la guitarra acustica, guitarra eléctrica, y el teclado; era auto didacta. En México, Ramon era el alma de la fiesta en reuniones familiares y con amigos pues le gustaba tocar la guitarra, cantar y bailar. Era un excelente bailador. Tenía talento para escribir canciones y hacer arreglos musicales. Ramon formó parte de grupos musicales en México y en Watsonville. Grabó un disco en 1994 con el grupo Nueva Imagen que incluye canciones de su autoria.

A lo largo de su vida trabajó en diferentes areas laborales incluyendo empaque, operando monta cargas, y en restaurantes. Ramon disfrutaba de cualquier trabajo que hacia y le gustaba el cambio y la variedad. Era amigable y tenía carisma, la gente a su alrededor lo buscaba y disfrutaba de su compañia. Tenía un gran sentido del humor, era único.

Años mas tarde se mudo a Chicago donde tuvo la oportunidad de convivir con otra parte de su familia; posteriormente regresó a California. Ramon volvió a explorar otros lugares y vivió en Miami, FL por algunos años. En 2019 regresó a California y pasó sus últimos años en San Ysidro, CA.

En cada lugar Ramon hacía vinculos amistosos y disfrutaba mucho de la música, la comida local y refleccionaba acerca de las diferencias y semejanzas de las comunidades donde había vivido. Solia refleccionar mucho acerca de la vida y la muerte.

En Julio 2026, Ramon concluyo su travesia al regresar a Watsonville donde pasó sus últimos dias rodeado del amor y los cuidados de su familia.

Ramon falleció la madrugada del Domingo 20 de Septiembre y serà por siempre extrañado, amado y recordado por su familia y seres queridos. Des canse en paz.

Ramon Correa Lopez was born in 1960 in Matamoros Tamaulipas, Mèxico. He is survived by siblings: Lupe, Irma, Amanda, y Concepcion. Siblings from Chicago: Homero, Raymon, Leticia, Sergio y Ana.

In 1964 the family moved to México City where he spent his childhood and adolescence. In 1984 he entered the police academy and worked as investigator in the analysis and information department. A few years later with the support of his sister Lupe Lopez, Ramon immigrated to United States and arrived to Watsonville.

In 1989 Ramon married Bertha Caravantes. Even though, they did not have children, he had 13 nephews and nieces who had the opportunity to enjoy his company and live close to him in different times of his life. He was a playful and caring uncle. He will be remembered with love by: Armando, Cecilia, Laura, Marbelli, Gabriela, Itzel, Claudia, Eduardo, Fernanda, Andres, Jonathan, Giovanni y Josimar.

The music was always his passion. He was a self- taught musician who learned to play acoustic and electric guitar and keyboard from a young age.

In México, he enjoyed playing, singing and dancing in family parties and with friends. He was an excellent dancer. He was talented at writing songs and making musical arrangements. Ramon was a member of different music bands in México and Watsonville. In 1994 as a member of the music band Nueva Imagen, he had the great experience to record a CD which included several songs written by him.

Throughout his life, he worked in different lines of work including packing, forklift operator, and in food service. Ramon enjoyed all his jobs, he liked variety and embraced change. He was friendly, easy-going, was charismatic. People enjoyed his company and maintained communication with him despite the distance and time. He had a great and unique sense of humor.

Years later, he moved to Chicago where he had the opportunity to spend time with the other part of his family. Subsequently, he returned to California. Ramon continued exploring other places and lived in Miami, FL for a few years. In 2019, he returned to California and spent his last months in San Ysidro, CA.

In each place Ramon lived and worked, he made friendly connections, he enjoyed the local music, food, and he used to reflect on the differences and similarities of the communities he lived in. He used to have profound thoughts about life and death.

In Julio 2026, Ramon completed his journey and returned to Watsonville where he spent his last days surrounded by the love and care of his family.

Ramon passed away in the early morning on Sunday September 20, 2026. Ramon will be greatly missed, always loved and remembered by his family and loved ones. Rest in peace.
