Robert "Roberto" Mejia

March 18, 1971 — November 29, 2019

On November 29, 2019 Robert (Roberto) Mejia peacefully passed away surrounded by his family. Robert graduated Watsonville High school in 1989. Robert served in the United States Army as an Artillery Repairman during Operation Desert Storm. He returned to college enrolling at San Jose State University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies. He worked for time as a long-term substitute teacher in San Jose as a 4th -5th combo teacher. He developed a passion for literacy creating a learning system and building his own method for teaching students to read based on phonics. He was an artist throughout his life, drawing mostly robots, super heroes and other sci-fi material. He also loved to ride his bike, walk at Sunset Beach, go roller blading and once completed half marathon. Robert was proceeded in death by his parents Jose and Francisca Mejia, His Siblings, Estella and David Angel Mejia. He leaves behind 9 brothers and 2 sisters as well as several nieces and nephews as well as aunts and uncles. He is survived by his siblings; Jose Fidel, Evangelina, Abel, Javier, Ismael, Silvia, Luis, Ruben, Sergio, Angel and several nieces and nephews, Aunts, Uncles and cousins. Visitation services will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2019 from 5-9 PM at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel. Burial will be held on Friday, December 13, 2019 at 10:00 AM At Valley Public Cemetery.
