Velma Rose

On Monday, March 9, 2026, Velma Rose passed away at the age of 96.

Velma was born and raised in Watsonville, graduating from Watsonville High in 1947. Her working years were spent supporting families at Watsonville Children’s Center. Once she retired, she enjoyed traveling to new destinations, watching her grandkids play sports, listening to country western music and watching as many Giants games as possible. Later in life she found pleasure in quieter routines and a nightly glass of Prosecco. She will be forever missed and her memory cherished by all that knew her.

She is survived by her daughters Janet Erekson, Karen Peixoto and Loree (Terry) Gotcher. She is preceded in death by her daughter Denise Tomaso. Velma is also survived by her grandkids Erin (Jake) Gould, Dominic Tomaso, Zac (Claudia) Peixoto, Brett (Valerie Panzich) Gotcher, Lia (Kevin) Farrelly and Taryn (Ryan) Dreifus as well as great and great-great-grandchildren.

Her family will remember her in their own ways and through the many stories that will continue to be shared. A private family service will be held at a later date.
