Victorino (Victor) Ortiz

November 19, 1946 — December 21, 2018

Victorino (Victor) Ortiz unexpectedly passed away in Watsonville on Friday December 21, 2018. He was 72. Victor was born on November 19, 1946 in Calvillo, Aguascalientes,MX to Avelino and Rita Ortiz. At a young age he and his family settled in San Benito County where he began working in the local orchards and ag fields. In 1977 he married Esthela, moved to the Las Lomas area where they raised three children. Victor spent nearly three decades working at JM Smucker's and S.Martinelli & Co. before retiring and moving to Watsonville. Victor was a small man in stature but his loving heart was extremely big. He was a lover of nature, animals, thrill rides, but especially of being with family and friends enjoying boxing on tv, baseball games, taking Osito, his dog out for walks along the Pajaro River levee, and spending time with his church family, the Seventh-Day Adventist. Till his last living day he was a loyal and supportive son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend willing to lend a helping hand anytime of day. With his loud voice and contagious jolly laughter that could be heard a country mile away there was never a boring or quiet time around him. Victor's bright positive outlook on life even in the darkest of times made us believe that everything will be alright. He will be greatly missed and always loved. Till we meet again my friend. Victor is preceded in death by his mother, Rita and sisters Enedina Ortiz and Felicitas Cortez. He is survived by his father, Avelino. His brothers Joel, Carlos (Lizzett), and Manuel Ortiz. His sisters Manuela (Joe) Lopez, and Dolores Garcia. Wife, Esthela Ortiz. Sons Carlos (Claudia) Gonzalez, Gustavo (Adriana) Ortiz, and daughter Leticia (Alex) Suarez, six grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Viewing will be held at Ave Maria Chapel on December 30, 2018 5pm-9pm. Ceremony will be held on December 31, 2018 at 0845 followed by burial in San Juan Bautista Cemetery at 11am. 70 Monterey St, San Juan Bautista 95045.
