William (Bill) Davidson was born Jan. 2, 1935 in Watsonville, CA to Tom and Emma Davidson. He lived for many years at the family home on Jefferson Street. He spent his early school years at Moreland Notre Dame School and then went on to Watsonville High School, where he graduated mid-term in 1955. He loved and excelled at sports, his favorites being basketball and baseball, and pitched for the high school varsity baseball team. He then went on to Hartnell College in Salinas, continuing his baseball career. He also pitched in Canada two summers and pitched a season for the Stockton Ports in 1956. At that time they were a farm team for the Baltimore Orioles.

Bill enlisted in the US Army reserve program and spent 6 months at Fort Gordon, Georgia. He continued his Army career with summer months at Fort Ord. After marrying Carolyn Pettus he worked for the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Department as a deputy, then at AAA Insurance in Watsonville. He opened his own insurance agency with State Farm Insurance in Aptos in 1969 and had a 30 year career with that company, retiring in 1999. In 2001 he and his wife, Sandra Rugh, had a log home built in the hills of San Juan Canyon, where they lived happily.

Bill was a bird hunter from an early age, primarily duck hunting; he was also an avid fisherman and golfer while still in Watsonville.

He was predeceased by his parents and his older siblings; sister Arlene, brothers Tom and Bob. He leaves two daughters, Candace Holly and Carrie Valenzuela; four grandchildren, Flora Temple and Sean Valenzuela; Jordan Holly and Sarah Martin; three great grandchildren, Shay and Kennedy Temple and Lainey Valenzuela; three step-children, Barbara Perez, Sally Schultz and Brian Schultz; and six step-grandchildren, Sarah Schultz; Isabella, Alexandra and Natalie Perez and Brandon and Bianca Schultz, as well as his special Labrador retriever, Emma. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be greatly missed by family and many friends.
