With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ygnacio “Angel” Vargas, who departed this life on April 21, 2025, just days before his 79th birthday.
Born on April 25, 1946, to Luis Vargas and Antonia Solís, Angel was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his loving wife, Guadalupe Serrano; his children, David Serrano, Angelica Martinez, and Geovanee Vargas; and his cherished grandchildren, Deion and Elias Martinez.
Angel was a devoted grandfather, faithfully attending his grandsons’ sporting events as their biggest fan. His love for family extended into every part of his life. He was also a proud 49ers fan and an avid outdoorsman with a special love for hiking. He found great joy in gardening—especially in growing his favorite chiles and tomatoes, which he often used to make his homemade salsa. He spent many years in the golf industry, forming lasting friendships and developing a deep appreciation for the game.
A public viewing will be held on Sunday, May 4, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel, with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, May 5, at 10:00 a.m. at Assumption Church, followed by interment at Valley Cemetery.
Angel’s warmth, humor, and unwavering love for his family will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
