Guadalupe Medrano Uribe

December 12, 1931 — March 17, 2021

Guadalupe was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world on March 15, 2021 at age 89 to be an Angel with our Lord. She joins her parents, Tomas Medrano and Luisa Mora, as well as Enrique Cervantes Uribe, her beloved husband.

In December 12, 1931, She was born in Santa Rosa, Zacatecas, Mexico and immigrated to Watsonville, California in 1968, where she lived out the rest of her life.

Guadalupe and her husband had an amazing life together raising 10 children: Ramiro (Spouse Maria), Mayolo (spouse Olegaria), Maria Elena (Spouse Antonio), Maria Carmen, (Spouse Hector), Maria Luisa (Spouse Rogelio), Enrique (Spouse Kristina), Arturo (Spouse Blanca), Marta (Spouse Eduardo), Alma (Spouse Jose-Luis), and Orfil (Spouse Synde). Guadalupe also left behind four amazing siblings: Jose Medrano, Roberto Medrano, Arturo Medrano and Engracia Torres.

The greatest love of her life was her family, which consisted of 39 grandchildren, 78 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren.

To each of them, she passed on her values, morals, and ethics. These values were based on cultural traditions, religion, and family unity. The most important lesson that Guadalupe left her children and grandchildren was to always help anyone who is in need, without expecting anything in return. Her famous phrase was, “Haz el bien y no mires a quién,” meaning, “Do good and don’t look at whom.” While Guadalupe always prioritized her family, her limitless generosity also extended to her church and her community.

She taught her family to love God over all things, respect the elderly and all human beings regardless of age, religion, gender, or status. She loved cooking and kept alive many the traditions of her rich Mexican culture. Her greatest satisfaction was in knowing that her daughters and some of her grandchildren learned to prepare some of her favorite traditional meals.

Guadalupe was a great warrior of life. She taught her sons and daughters to strive in life and to never give up regardless of how big or complicate a problem was. Being afraid or running away was never an option. She was guided by the inspirational phase, “Dios por delante y yo detrás de él,” “God is in front of me, and I am behind him.”
