August 3, 1956 — January 17, 2021

Rodney James Misumi, a life-long resident of Watsonville, passed away on January 17, 2021, at the age of 64 in Watsonville. He is survived by his mother, Alice Misumi and predeceased by his father Jim Misumi. Rodney was born on August 3, 1956. He graduated from Watsonville High School and attended Cabrillo Junior College. He continued his education in San Jose at an appliance trade school. Rodney came back home to Watsonville and worked at three different hardware stores until 1989, when he was able to make his dream come true by opening his own True Value Hardware Store on East Lake Avenue. He owned and operated his store for over 25 years until he retired. He was well-known for always helping his customers find solutions with problems or repair issues. After retirement, he enjoyed visiting with his friends at the local coffee shop every day. Rodney was an active member and Treasurer of the Pajaro Valley Rod and Gun Club. He was also Treasurer of Friends of NRA.  Rodney was an avid collector of various memorabilia and heirlooms.

No services will be held at this time, but please take a moment to remember one of his acts of kindness like when he fixed your broken appliance or helped you solve your home project questions.

Rodney cared deeply for his family, friends and community. The Misumi Family would like to thank the many friends of Rodney for their life-long friendships throughout the years. Rodney James Misumi will be greatly and sincerely missed by all.
